OverviewAstute's EPC Power team is partnering with a leading EPC Contractor within the UK Power Industry to recruit a Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer on a 6 month contract basis for its Open Cycle Gas Turbine plant in Stewartby, Bedfordshire. The Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer role comes with a day rate of £500.00 to £550.00 per day.ResponsibilitiesLead and execute electrical commissioning activities for a gas power project in the UK, until successful handover to the customer. The scope includes experience with the NG TP106 Process Framework to ensure commissioning is conducted with governance and an audit trail.Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as transformers, medium/low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, motorized valves, instruments, etc. Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.Carry out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting, and complete the respective commissioning documentation and protocols.Coordinate with internal team members, provide guidance, and oversee external partners and sub-contractors, while interacting with customers.Manage and lead the team of LV/MV/HV electrical engineers, electrical supervisors, technicians, etc. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily, providing resourceful inputs on work progress.Ensure all activities on site follow the correct processes per project requirements and comply with all EHS requirements.Coordinate all necessary activities with involved parties, such as the commissioning team, erection team, and sub-contractors.Participate in walk-downs for turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.Prepare and update commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.Manage documentation submission for project close-out.Report to the Commissioning Manager and the Head of Commissioning.Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.Depose Commissioning Manager in his/her absence.At least 7 years’ experience in power stations Electrical (MV/LV and I&C) commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role on projects of similar relevance.BEng / HND in Electrical Engineering.Strong team spirit, able to work with an international team and across cultures.Excellent communication skills.Location, remuneration and timeframeStewartby, Bedfordshire£500.00 to £550.00 per day - Outside IR35ASAPAstute People are acting as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
