Software Backend Engineer (Golang)

MateHR is currently seeking an experienced Backend Engineer on behalf of a rapidly scaling fintech startup that's reshaping global transaction services. This exciting organisation is expanding internationally, notably within the UK market. You'll become part of a passionate, collaborative team committed to delivering impactful financial solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using GoLang (or Java as an alternative).
- Design and implement RESTful APIs following company standards.
- Work with observability stack (logging, metrics, tracing) to monitor and improve system health.
- Apply Domain-Driven Design and modularization concepts.
- Implement asynchronous processing with approaches like co-routines, message queuing, and event streaming (Kafka).
- Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL): evolving schemas, transaction isolation levels, and writing efficient SQL queries.
- Implement caching strategies (Redis).
- Containerize applications using Docker or similar technologies.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience (GoLang preferred; Java acceptable).
- Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
- Strong experience building RESTful APIs and applying company standards.
- Understanding of Domain-Driven Design and modularization.
- Experience with asynchronous processing (Kafka or similar).
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, including schema evolution, isolation levels, and SQL optimization.
- Understanding caching patterns (Redis).
- Experience with Docker and container technologies.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Positive attitude and passion for technology and continuous learning.
Nice to Have
- Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
