MateHR is currently seeking an experienced Backend Engineer on behalf of a rapidly scaling fintech startup that's reshaping global transaction services. This exciting organisation is expanding internationally, notably within the UK market. You'll become part of a passionate, collaborative team committed to delivering impactful financial solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using GoLang (or Java as an alternative).
• Design and implement RESTful APIs following company standards.
• Work with observability stack (logging, metrics, tracing) to monitor and improve system health.
• Apply Domain-Driven Design and modularization concepts.
• Implement asynchronous processing with approaches like co-routines, message queuing, and event streaming (Kafka).
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL): evolving schemas, transaction isolation levels, and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Implement caching strategies (Redis).
• Containerize applications using Docker or similar technologies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience (GoLang preferred; Java acceptable).
• Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs and applying company standards.
• Understanding of Domain-Driven Design and modularization.
• Experience with asynchronous processing (Kafka or similar).
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, including schema evolution, isolation levels, and SQL optimization.
• Understanding caching patterns (Redis).
• Experience with Docker and container technologies.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Positive attitude and passion for technology and continuous learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
