As a Software Development Engineer I, you’ll be part of Expedia’s Supply & Marketplace Pricing services teams, powering transparent, localized, and optimized pricing across brands like Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, and more. Our systems handle millions of queries daily, requiring innovative solutions to complex problems. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-traffic, distributed systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability, while making a real impact on millions of travelers worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Write, test, and maintain high-quality, modular, and maintainable code that scales efficiently.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues, contribute to system design, and ensure seamless integration across services.
- Collaborate closely with team members through problem-solving sessions, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Apply core computer science principles such as data structures, object-oriented programming (OOP), and algorithms to deliver effective solutions.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, report progress clearly, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in Agile practices, sprint planning, and collaborative team workflows in a fast-paced environment.
- Learn from experienced engineers and mentors while continuously expanding your technical skills in modern software development practices.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions that help improve our engineering culture.
Who You Are
- 0-2 years of experience in software development or related internships/projects.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proficient in at least one programming language such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala.
- Familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git) and development tools (e.g., IntelliJ, Eclipse).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with a basic understanding of testing, monitoring, and software quality principles.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a learning environment and embraces constructive feedback.
- Curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies and frameworks.
