Genio Software Engineer Apprenticeship - 2026. Start your Engineering career with Genio’s Apprentice Program. This is a fully funded Level 4 Software Development apprenticeship in partnership with Leeds City College.

What you’ll be doing

• Delivering high-quality, testable code: with support, you’ll contribute towards product development using clean and efficient code, debugging, troubleshooting, and executing unit tests, ensuring quality and maintainability of the software solutions.
• Solving technical problems and contributing to documentation: investigating challenges, using documentation to find solutions, and improving the documentation itself.
• Collaborating effectively and continuously improving: participating in code reviews, seeking feedback, and staying up-to-date with best practices and technologies while working within a squad.

What we’re looking for

We’re not expecting you to know it all—this is an apprenticeship. We’d love to see:

• A passion for tech and an eagerness to learn
• Demonstrated understanding of coding (self-taught or formal)
• Awareness of software technologies; no professional experience required
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript (we use TypeScript & React)
• Databases (SQL)
• Version control (Git)
• A collaborative mindset, curiosity, growth-oriented attitude, and clear communication

What makes you a great fit

• Early in your engineering journey; self-taught or a student. To be eligible, you should know up to 30% of the course content; otherwise you may not be the right fit for this role.
• Basic understanding of how coding works and familiarity with programming concepts
• Curious, eager to learn, open to feedback; enjoy solving problems and asking questions

Location

Leeds: hybrid working. The office is in Leeds; you would typically work in the office about 2 days a week and remotely the rest. Please apply only if you are based within commutable distance to Leeds.

Salary

£25,000 per annum for the duration of the apprenticeship, which lasts 27 months. On successful completion, you’ll receive a Level 4 Software Engineering apprenticeship qualification.

What the process looks like

1. Application – Submit your application. We’ll ask about your academic information and create an opportunity to get to know you. We’ll check apprenticeship eligibility. We value your voice and don’t require perfect jargon.
2. Deadline for applications: Friday 3rd October 2025 at 4pm.
3. Video Assessment – If invited, submit a short video within 7 days of invitation.
4. Eligibility Check Screening Call – A short call to verify right to work, motivations, and eligibility.
5. Technical Task – A small task to understand your approach to real-world challenges.
6. Final stage Interview / Assessment Centre – Half-day in Leeds, with an interview with Engineering Managers.
7. Ahead of each stage, you’ll receive a confirmation with details on what to prepare.
