The OpportunityWe have an exciting opportunity within the JFD Engineering Team for a Software Engineer to join the team working on exciting new health technology being integrated initially into our Submarine Rescue Systems, beyond which our other capability areas.The successful candidate will provide embedded software engineering design solutions for our health monitoring technology, to be deployed in aid of submariners during rescue operations. The successful candidate will primarily work on developing health technology within the Biometrics & Condition Monitoring team.Our ideal candidate will have experience developing medical / health monitoring equipment and an interest in IOT devices and wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi). Key Accountabilities Support software engineering input to the existing product range as well as new systems and products. Support software management of change for new and existing legacy codebase. Creation of software engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, test plans, reports and manuals. Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes. Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required. Compliance to internal and external standards and regulations.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications Computer Science / Software / Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent Degree. Demonstrated experience in a software development / engineering role. Good knowledge and practice of the software development life cycle. Good knowledge in embedded software (PIC, STM32) development, test and debug. Good knowledge in high level development languages – preferably one or more of C# and C++, and C. Software management systems (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc) advantageous. Source code version control systems (specifically git) advantageous. Communications (network and serial) advantageous. User interface design advantageous. Database development advantageous. Software design methodology advantageous. Ability to obtain SC level security clearance essential.
