OverviewJoin to apply for the Software Engineer - Level 3 role at Metrea.Position DetailsTitle: Software Engineer - Level 3Reports to: Engineering ManagerGroup: D&S Capability: EngineeringLevel: S3Work Arrangement: HybridLocation: Harwell, EnglandPosition SummaryMetrea is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our software development team, building software solutions that provide geospatial data processing and visualisations.Role And ResponsibilitiesLead the development of product features, ensuring engineering decisions account for technical debt, systems design, stability/reliability, monitoring/observability and business needs.Lead refactoring of complex systems or problems when warranted, balancing perfection and technical debt with business priorities.Lead the design process for complex technical problems or new product features.Debug and resolve complex software issues rapidly.Collaborate closely with teammates, contribute to code reviews, and promote practices that improve accessibility, performance, stability, security and overall code quality.Mentor less experienced engineers and assist with onboarding new team members.Communicate risk of technical problems clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Collaborate with product, engineering and UI Design to ensure delivery aligns with the product roadmap.Skills And ExperienceHND or BSc level qualification in Software Engineering or an equivalent Computer Science related discipline3+ years of demonstrable experience in an active software development role, developing web-based applicationsStrong understanding and practical experience of web development using JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React/Angular)Experience delivering in an Agile software development environmentDrive to learn continually and further your knowledgeStrong organisational skills and proactive approach to task delivery and documentationExcellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical team membersBeneficialExperience working on geospatial visualization productsExperience developing with C#Experience using Kafka and/or Kubernetes within a service-based architectureExperience working with relational and/or non-relational databasesCultureMetrea’s core value is “rooted in humility,” supported by entrepreneurial, systematic, discerning, and over-deliver attributes.
