Software Engineer - Recommend - Android role at Wise. You will join a team focused on the recommendation experience to bring new customers to Wise and enhance the onboarding experience for referred users.

About The Role

Team you will be working with: Recommend. The Recommend team builds the referral platforms, onboarding for referred customers, and reward mechanisms, owning the journey until the first international money needs are met. The team is diverse and includes software engineers, data analysts, and designers who collaborate daily to improve the recommendation journey at Wise.

As an Android Engineer, you will evolve and scale our recommendation platform and reward mechanisms for customers worldwide. You will build the customer experience for referring friends or family and create product experiences that shape the first experience of many new Wise customers. As part of Mobile engineering, you will influence other parts of the app, collaborate with 60+ other mobile engineers, and contribute to UX and code quality across Wise products. You will ensure solutions scale and fit well to deliver a high-quality global product and collaborate with peers across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Android experiences for the Recommend platform and rewards, enabling referrals and onboarding for new users.
• Collaborate with a large mobile engineering community to raise UX and code quality across Wise.
• Ensure scalable, high-quality solutions that fit within a global product ecosystem.
• Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, data) to deliver user-focused features.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building and deploying an application that delights customers.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin.
• Familiarity with modern app architectures (Unidirectional Data Flow, Dependency Injection, Structured Concurrency with Kotlin Coroutines).
• Desire to write testable code.
• Understanding of REST API design.
• Strong product mindset and passion for user experience with data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and independently solve problems.

Nice To Have

• Experience with declarative UI (Compose), Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

What Do We Offer

• Starting salary: £65,000 - £85,000
