Overview

Software Engineer position in Leidos UK, delivered in partnership with hackajob. Based in Whiteley, United Kingdom, with potential remote from home arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a multi-discipline team in problem analysis, solution work-up and delivery of software across a wide range of applications for the Air Traffic Management portfolio.
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering activities and adherence to software assurance standards.
  • Work across multiple applications as required, multitasking to support delivery and maintenance activities.
  • Apply knowledge of software engineering standards, principles and best practices throughout the release life cycle from kick-off to deployment.
  • Develop software requirements, contribute to architecture and design baselines, and implement software solutions.
  • Participate in change and release management, risk/opportunity management, and liaise with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Create software test plans, execute tests, and contribute to documentation such as white papers.

Required Skills

  • Proven track record in developing software solutions using 1st to 3rd generation languages (e.g., Ada 83/95, C, C++).
  • Experience with Waterfall and V-model development.
  • Experience delivering solutions on Linux operating systems.
  • Experience across the complete project life cycle from bid through deployment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide technical direction.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and liaise with stakeholders; strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with team and external stakeholders.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Agile development (e.g., Scrum).
  • Experience delivering real-time and/or safety-related software.
  • Knowledge of modelling languages (e.g., SysML, UML).
  • Knowledge of C, C++, Java; scripting with Python.
  • Knowledge of COTS integration technologies (e.g., Apache Camel, Apache Kafka) and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of configuration management within a software engineering environment.

Pay Range

£38,000.00 - £64,000.00 per year (plus excellent benefits)
