OverviewSoftware Product Support Engineer – Bristol (on-site, 4 days per week) • £68 per hour (via umbrella) • 6-month contractMERITUS Talent are working with one of Europe\'s leading defence systems manufacturers for the recruitment of a software product assurance engineer to join on an initial 6 month contract to join their team in Bristol, onsite full-time. The role falls Inside IR35 so will be conducted via an Umbrella, and paying £68 per hour. Prior to starting the role, candidates must be SC Cleared.What you\'ll be doingInvestigating, debugging, and resolving software issues across multiple projects.Supporting in-service software on secure systems for both land and naval platforms.Administering and configuring Linux systems (RedHat / Ubuntu) including kernel-level changes.Collaborating with project teams to deliver updates, patches, and technical support.Producing clear documentation and explaining technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.What we\'re looking forStrong coding background in C / C++ (Ada, JavaScript, or shell scripting would be an advantage).Experience with Linux OS administration (RedHat or Ubuntu; kernel-level knowledge highly desirable).Ability to investigate and debug complex software issues.Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across multiple projects.Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical issues into clear explanations.Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).Contract detailsLocation: Bristol (minimum 4 days on-site per week)Duration: 6 monthsRate: £68 per hour (via umbrella) #J-18808-Ljbffr
