Overview

SQL Server Database Engineer with SSIS role at Free-Work UK. The position is based in Central London; in-office presence required three days a week. The salary range is £65K–£75K. The client notes that sponsorship is not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver data pipelines to collect, validate, and prepare high-quality data to automate and streamline processes for different departments.
  • Support existing SSIS ETLs (overnight and intraday); proactively fine-tune and enhance existing code to increase robustness and error monitoring.
  • Support the internal IT department with changes and upgrades to software platforms.
  • Convert legacy Hyperion reports to SSRS.
  • Analyze and resolve issues arising from in-house systems (e.g., CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end-of-day cycle); understand business requirements to deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Build data pipelines within the SQL environment (SSIS); introduce new fields/data types as needed for CORE data collation.
  • Build tabular models (SSAS) for different business units and create reports using SQL SSRS.
  • Integrate with bank subsystems using data abstraction and connectivity layers (e.g., ODBC, ADO.NET).
  • Provide second/third-level support during the end-of-day cycle and ensure timely problem ownership and resolution. Out-of-hours support where required.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and Bank risk/compliance policies; report breaches and potential non-compliance promptly; execute controls to minimise risk; identify risk gaps and escalate as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • MS SQL stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) to a high level of proficiency – Essential.
  • C# programming and/or JavaScript – Desirable.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Software analysis and design best practices; dimensional modelling and ER modelling; normalised modelling.
  • Data warehouse design concepts (Inmon, Kimball).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions; experience with data integration and reporting tools.

Location: Central London. The position requires being in the office for 3 days per week.
