Our client, a leading engineering company in Derby, is looking to expand their engineering team. The new Structural design engineer will have previous experience in concept and detailed design, thermodynamic design, structural design, and a strong appreciation for general mechanical engineering. An understanding of acoustic engineering would also be of benefit. As the new Structural design Engineer, you will: Report to the Engineering Manager, supporting pre- and post-contract design activities for engineered solutions in the Energy sector, including Renewable, Fossil Fuel, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, and Waste-to-X. Work independently and as part of a team through all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept design to delivery and commissioning. Engage professionally with internal and external customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to meet engineering needs, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. Support the sales phase by preparing concept design sketches, calculations, and attending customer meetings in the UK and overseas. Review and interprets customer requirements from specifications, drawings, or standards. Perform detailed engineering calculations across structural, fluid dynamic, finite element analysis, and general mechanics disciplines, using software or hand methods.
