Structural Design Engineer

About the Role

A growing engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join their structural team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will carry out structural analysis and design for a variety of building and civil engineering projects.

What You'll Be Doing

Producing high‑quality structural designs and calculations using various materials (concrete, steel, masonry, timber)

Using structural design software to generate drawings, reports and technical documentation

Coordinating design input with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, civil) and with construction teams

Ensuring designs comply with UK design codes, standards and relevant regulations

Working to deliver projects on time and within budget, managing multiple tasks and deadlines

Being involved in the full project delivery process, including contract considerations (e.g. NEC)

Engaging in continuous professional development and working toward chartership status (ICE or IStructE)

What We're Looking For

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a design office or consultancy environment

Strong technical knowledge of UK design codes and standards

Proficiency with structural design software (examples: CADS, Tekla, SCIA, STRAP, TEDDS, Fastrack, AutoCAD, Revit or similar)

Solid IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.

Strong communication skills (written & verbal) and able to liaise with clients and internal/external teams

Ability to manage workloads, meet tight deadlines, adapt to change and think proactivelyWhat's On Offer
