WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
BT relies on submarine cables to form the backbone of the global transmission network delivering services and products to BT's multinational corporate customers. 97% of BT's international traffic globally is carried over submarine cables. BT also relies on submarine cables to deliver domestic services within the UK including superfast broadband meeting UK consumer and business customers expectations.
This job ensures that the Subsea Cable Stations operated by BT meet the requirements of BT and external customers. This job also ensures that the knowledge, skills and expertise is transferred to a new member of the team.
The Job Holder will be the Lead engineer and be capable of undertaking detailed and complex fault finding and rectification of Subsea faults as well as maintaining the Health and Safety of others as part of their day to day duties. The responsibility for the Security, Safety and Operation of the site they are working at falls on them, on a daily basis.
ROLE DUTIES
Operate and maintain the diverse range of transmission plant & services located within the Cable Landing Station (CLS) ensuring that the high capacity, high revenue routes being carried are of the highest quality.
