Subsea Control System & Umbilical Engineer
The main purpose of the role is to support the Company Development Team during the Project Execution Phase in the engineering, design, manufacturing, and testing (performed by Contractor) of subsea production, injection, and workover instrumentation and control systems (both subsea and topside on FPSO). The role involves assuring that the design meets Project requirements, applicable standards, and engineering best practices, as well as developing the company's know-how.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Review and approve the specification, design, and supply (by Contractor) of subsea umbilical, distribution, and control systems, ensuring compliance with Project requirements, industry standards, safety, reliability, and cost considerations.
- Learn and become confident with all COMPANY standards and Project Specifications to verify Contractor compliance.
- Ensure the performance, installability, and operability of the umbilical, distribution, and control systems, subsea production Xmas trees, subsea injection Xmas trees, subsea tie-in systems, and subsea structures (manifolds, suction piles, and SDU).
- Ensure all necessary technical interfaces with other systems or activities are considered by the Contractor at all times.
- Perform site inspections and interface with the Contractor.
- Ensure delivery of subsea equipment, including umbilicals, aligns with the Project schedule and objectives.
- Assist in the preparation of user manuals and installation procedures by the Contractor and support the installation campaign.
- Interface with the COMPANY Project Interface Coordinator to manage and expedite all SPS Contractor activities.
- Oversee instrumentation and automation systems' overall design integrity and compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, contracts, international standards, and engineering best practices.
- Conduct site inspections and interface with the Contractor on technical and delivery issues.
The ideal candidate must have a degree with 5 years of Oil & Gas industry experience, including 5 years in instrumentation and automation, and 3 years in unbonded umbilical/flexible pipe design, manufacturing, and installation.
Additional competencies include:
- Specialist knowledge in engineering activities.
- Experience in umbilical design, qualification, manufacturing, testing, inspection, installation, and offshore testing procedures, including topside and subsea interfaces.
- Proficiency in dynamic umbilical analysis software (e.g., Orcaflex, Flexcom).
- Experience with organizational processes: company/corporate organization, internal standards, feedback development and diffusion, site management.
