Supplier Quality Engineer (Automotive Components and Fasteners)
Primary Job Mission:
* To provide effective and efficient assistance to our existing supply base in relation to their continued development;
* Ensure the efficiency and adequacy of new suppliers;
* Active contribution as a member of the Technical & Quality Team.
Duties:
* Interface between company and suppliers in the event of QC concerns.
* Shared responsibility for Customer Concerns Register and to ensure all supplier responses are received in a timely manner to allow 8D completion.
* Have responsibility for generating and maintaining company audit schedule.
* To conduct supplier audits in line with company audit schedule, both in the UK and abroad.
* To take ownership of the approved supplier list and ensure all certification and approval records are kept up to date.
* To have responsibility for all supplier PPAP submissions, to review and ensure all content meets expectations.
* Development and implementation of a supplier rating system and responsibility for monitoring / issuing periodic reports.
* Implementation of supplier improvement plans where necessary.
* Support new supplier selection and development.
* Support Technical and Commercial teams with APQP tracking and NPI, ensuring key deadlines are met.
* Carry out internal audits of company’s management systems (ISO9001 & ISO14001).
* To liaise with suppliers to ensure the company meets Environmental, Sustainability and Corporate responsibilities.
* To provide regular reports to Head of Technical & Quality in relation to supplier performance and improvements.
Candidate Specification
* Be Lead Auditor trained, Ideally in IATF 16949.
* Have a strong Quality Engineering background.
* Be flexible and adaptable to the demands of the role.
* To hold a full UK driving licence.
* To hold a UK passport and be willing to travel to supplier’s premises around the world.
* Have a good understanding of Automotive tools such as APQP, PPAP, Global 8D problem solving.
* To be able to understand and interpret Technical Drawings and Specifications.
* Be competent in the use of general inspection equipment.
* To understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
* To be able to understand and interpret 3D CAD models.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working hours 730am to 430pm Monday to Thursday, and 730am to 12pm on Fridays.
Salary negotiable on experience in role.
