There are ambitious plans that involve parallel and interleaved streams of pioneering technology experimentation and rapid weapon system development, providing opportunities across the key weapon system domains of Systems Engineering: requirements, design, performance analysis and certification.In particular we are looking for System Design Engineers to work on the Image Processing and Control subsystem.BenefitsState of the art technology & innovationExternal learning and development encouragedLight and airy university type campusFriendly environment!Restaurant, On site Medical Centre, Parking / Easy Access to train station, Coffee Shops & Onsite Shop, Sports & Social Club and MoreResponsibilitiesWork on the Image Processing and Control subsystem as part of the system design effort for the Laser Directed Energy Weapon concept.Manage system requirements, verification and compliance evolution against a rapid system baseline release schedule.Generate detailed requirement sets from a variety of drivers and manage changes to baselines.Support system requirement flow-down through to design and implementation teams.Initiate and drive risk quantification and mitigation activities as trade studies.Support technical mediation, communicating issues, architectures and ideas at all levels and to varying degrees of specificity.Be a flexible systems thinker with ability to disseminate technical information to stakeholders in an understandable manner.Deliver outputs on the required timescales and develop excellent working relationships with partners, stakeholders, team members and other departments.Contribute to developing, building and growing the Systems Design team as the project develops.Experience of system architecting tools (e.g., DOORS/DOORS NG/Rhapsody) is desirable.Knowledge of lasers and/or optical physics would be beneficial.Demonstrate passion and persistence to get a job done well.Qualifications and ClearanceIdeally degree educated in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent with experience.Must be familiar with Electronic Engineering requirements content and experienced in handling embedded software or firmware requirements.Must have experience of developing complex systems design requirements, particularly for implementation in software.Security clearance: You will need to obtain UK Security Clearance for this role. This will require you to be a UK Citizen or UK Dual Citizen (some restrictions may apply).
