Job ID: 3087196 | AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch). AWS is seeking motivated individuals to help implement innovative cloud computing solutions and operate at a massive scale in a fast-growing environment.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services like S3 and EC2 to new services across Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things, Platform, and Productivity Apps. You will be part of a team that supports customers requiring specialized security solutions and helps manage cloud services at scale.

Key responsibilities

WHAT DOES A SYSTEMS ENGINEER DO AT AMAZON?

  • Work in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment focused on service ownership and Operational Excellence.
  • Diagnose customer issues, investigate metric trends, and collaborate with senior engineers to resolve problems.
  • Automate manual processes and strive to make out-of-hours support painless.
  • Develop a broad range of skills using Linux to troubleshoot, implement fixes and workarounds, and keep software up-to-date.
  • Provide data and metrics to help manage capacity and efficiency of services.
  • Apply networking knowledge to identify and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results.
  • Be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and change; be customer-obsessed and focused on resolving customer pain points quickly and completely.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

- Working knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting at all levels (application to network to host)
- Experience with systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc.
- Experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)

Preferred Qualifications

- Exposure to cloud computing concepts and design considerations
- Knowledge of configuration management systems (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems)
