Overview

Location: Soil Machine Dynamics, Davy Bank, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, NE28 6UZ

The role is to develop compelling technical solutions to meet customer requirements and product development programs. The role will work closely with and under the supervision of the Chief Engineers and alongside the Sales Managers and Tender Teams.

About The Role

This will involve the ability to think creatively and independently. Ideas will be developed by using innovative solutions in 2D+3D software, advanced visuals and animations to aid understanding and support the sales and marketing process. The projects will range from bespoke unique designs to larger volume production work in both project solutions, innovation and product development.

Responsibilities

• liaising with and supporting Chief Engineers in the creative cycle of tendering innovative and complex equipment solutions.
• Following early idea generation through the production of design calculations, product selection, definition and system definition and evaluation.
• Managing the Library of CAD documentation files and performance data relevant to our technologies, for example trenching performance data sets.
• Interacting with various stakeholders in Design Review processes for Price Approval.
• Participation in the technical reviews of tenders.
• Supporting the sales teams in visiting clients and demonstrating our technical innovations.

Skills and Qualifications

This person should be educated to a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Relevant experience in a similar role may be considered.

We’re looking for someone with proven understanding of deck equipment, hydraulics, control systems, electrical power systems, software and their role in the system solution.

This person should have a good understanding of other engineering disciplines: structural, hydraulic, maritime, electrical, control, materials, subsea.

You must also have AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor Experience.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.

Required Criteria
