Overview

Systems Integration Engineer role at Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC). This position involves bringing together the components required to control a quantum computer, ensuring smooth operation and integration of software, hardware, and quantum processors.

About OQC

At Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) we are building quantum computers to enable life-changing discoveries: from new drug modelisation to longer-lasting battery technology and portfolio optimisation. We have launched Europe’s first Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) – to bring quantum to our customers’ fingertips and help them improve their operations and trailblaze new commercial and scientific approaches.

Our team is composed of 40 people with diverse backgrounds in quantum physics, nanotechnologies, hardware, software and business operations. We aim to put OQC at the forefront of the quantum revolution and solve some of the world’s most challenging problems.

Role Overview

As a Systems Integration Engineer at OQC, you will design software that controls specific instruments and integrate these instruments into the full control system. You will improve the control system by solving automation problems, optimizing characterization and benchmarking processes to assess and improve overall Quantum Computer performance. You will work on multiple projects within multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design a robust, scalable, deployable control system that connects all subsystems required for a fully functional quantum computer (software, control hardware, quantum processors).
  • Work within the Quantum Systems team to improve characterization & benchmarking capabilities of quantum processors.
  • Ensure the software stack can communicate with various hardware using standard communication protocols and write low-level drivers.
  • Solve automation problems from control and testing perspectives.
  • Collaborate with software, classical hardware and quantum teams to ensure smooth integration of all components.

Remuneration
