Job Description\n\nTechnical Integration Engineer \n\nFull Time\n\nDerby - (requires regular travel to remote sites in Cumbria and Caithness)/Hybrid Working\n\nThe Irradiated Fuel Management (IFM) Engineering team is responsible for ensuring that the Post Irradiation Examination (PIE) requirements that underpin core through life safety cases are met, keeping Submarines at sea.\n\nWe work collaboratively primarily with the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL) in Cumbria and the Naval Reactor Test Establishment in Caithness to develop techniques as required and ensure the quality of this crucial data which underpins fleet operations.\n\nYour role as an integration engineer will be to work alongside our project team and technical leads within the supply chain to develop and support the application of techniques during the PIE campaigns, in the short term for current class and for future products. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It's a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
\n\nWhat you will be doing \n\nWithin this opportunity you will have the chance to pursue and be responsible for:\nProviding on-site (Cumbria & Caithness) support for deployment and operations of PIE equipment to gather data required for core validation\nDevelopment of Post Irradiation Examination inspection capabilities and processes in collaboration with suppliers\nContribute/Lead activities to improve and drive delivery of the PIE campaigns\nAssisting in the ongoing development of primary supplier UKNNL capability\nProviding guidance to internal and external project and technical teams to ensure that we deliver the PIE data required to support operation of the Submarines fleet\n\nWho we're looking for: \n\nAt Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. \n\nTo be successful in this role you will need to:\nBe a team player who is committed to work collaboratively with suppliers and customers (internally and externally).\nA high degree of flexibility and willingness to provide support at remote locations, working independently as required and internally to assist with work packages outside of the IFM team as required.\n Someone who is comfortable representing the IFM team, can challenge as appropriate and work across business units and functions.\nA problem-solving attitude and a desire to improve processes and techniques both internally and in the supply chain.\nA degree in an engineering or scientific discipline is preferred but not essential.\nExperience and understanding of PWR/Submarine core components, design, and manufacture are highly desirable but not essential.\n\nWe are an equal opportunities employer.
