The Role
As a Technical Lead Engineer, you’ll thrive on collaborating with your peers while leading and participating in the design and development process with product owners. You’ll bring your passion for writing clean, solid code to our highly scalable system. You will bring your technical and functional experience, working hands on in development as well as acting as a leader and manager to an engineering team.
This role will be leading a new scrum team developing the back-end for our customer platform, working alongside a front-end team to deliver an outstanding product.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of software components including unit and integration tests as well as documentation.
- Turn business requirements into engineering requirements. Write Backlog Stories in Jira.
- Work with team members to design high-volume, high-availability applications and services deployed in AWS to meet those business requirements
- Definition and evolution of REST and SOAP APIs, including Customer API development
- Promotion of modular, testable and maintainable Spring applications
- Writing clean, maintainable, scalable and secure code while following best practices, and leading fellow team members in these practices.
- Develop high level project plans to meet customer needs and lead the team to execute against the business commitments using Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional organization to prioritize, scope, and communicate progress of deliverables
- Be able to leverage production monitoring tools to troubleshoot production issues.
- Mentor and guide junior developers on the team
Required Competence and Skills
- BSc or equivalent experience, plus 5 years’ hands-on experience.
- Good knowledge of Java 17+, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate and relational and non-relational databases including MySQL.
- Experience working on SaaS platforms, ideally in booking, payments or e-commerce.
- Experience with modern data storage using NoSQL.
- Experience with REST API design.
- Experience building JSON and XML API’s.
- Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment
- Experience with micro-services and SaaS architectures.
- Previous experience in leading teams to apply CI/CD in development practice. GitLab experience would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of multithreading, scalability, and application of design patterns supporting high-availability services.
- Experience of AWS Kubernetes and Docker implementations.
- Experience with event driven architectures and messaging systems is a plus
- Experience refactoring application domains and services
- Ability to independently lead and contribute to projects spread across multiple development teams.
- Outstanding leadership, time management, and communication skills and the ability to work independently
