Technical MAM Architect (Media Engineer) – HCLTech Willingham, England, United Kingdom

Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end MAM architecture, including ingest, storage, metadata, workflows, search and distribution.
  • Design integration patterns between MAM and DAM/CMS, OTT platforms, storage, CDN, and analytics systems.
  • Define the end-to-end search architecture across the solution.
  • Translate business requirements into technical blueprints and implementation plans.
  • Drive performance, scalability, and security improvements for deployments.

Development & Implementation

  • Build custom workflows, plugins, and APIs.
  • Develop automation solutions for ingest, transcoding, metadata enrichment, QC, and archiving.
  • Build and consume APIs for live media services (AWS MediaLive/MediaConnect, Azure Media Services, Wowza, etc.).
  • Implement and configure search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, OpenSearch, or vendor-native).
  • Implement API-driven integrations with third-party systems (e.g., Adobe, Avid, broadcast systems, DAMs, cloud storage).
  • Configure user access, metadata schemas, and distribution workflows.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and monitoring setup.
  • Provide technical leadership to developers and operations teams.
  • Partner with product managers, media ops, and business teams to define solution requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices in MAM development, APIs, and media workflows.

Mandatory Skills

  • 10–15 years of experience in media engineering / MAM / OTT platforms, with hands-on development exposure. Strong expertise in MAM platform deployment, configuration, and customization. Hands-on development experience in API integrations (REST/GraphQL), microservices, and workflow orchestration.
  • Proficiency in video workflows: ingest, transcoding, packaging, metadata, search, and archive. Experience with cloud-native media workflows (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and storage/CDN integration. Experience with search engine functionality — from indexing pipelines to APIs. Good knowledge of video formats & codecs (H.264, HEVC, MXF, ProRes, CMAF). Good knowledge of streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT, HLS, DASH, WebRTC).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices: Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, etc.). Strong expertise with debugging and troubleshooting stream interruptions, latency spikes, and playback issues. Strong leadership and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with broadcast/MAM integration (Avid, Dalet, Viz One, Adobe). Familiarity with AI/ML in media workflows (auto-tagging, transcription, object recognition). Hands-on experience with identity/access management and content security. Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP).
