Technical Project Engineer

Inspire Resourcing are currently recruiting a Technical Project Engineer on behalf of our client based in Sheffield.\n\nDuties:\n\nMechanical Design & CAD Engineering:\n\n * Develop and manage 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.\n\n * Ensure designs meet product requirements including functionality, manufacturability, cost targets, and performance criteria.\n\n * Conduct tolerance stack-ups, FEA analysis (when applicable), and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) evaluations.\n\n * Maintain revision control and accurate documentation.\n\n * Collaborate with production and suppliers to refine designs for production readiness.\n\nNew Product Introduction (NPI) Leadership:\n\nServe as the technical lead on delegated NPI projects from concept through product release.\n\n * Develop and maintain project plans, Gantt charts, and timelines, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.\n\n * Support and engage with cross-functional team collaboration (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, etc.).\n\n * Lead technical reviews, design validation activities, and milestone reviews for delegated projects.\n\n * Work to project deadlines.\n\n * Manage engineering change notifications (ECNs) and implement design modifications as needed.\n\nThird-Party Testing Coordination:\n\n * Identify product certification and compliance requirements (e.g. BS EN, UL, CE, UKCA, etc.).\n\n * Define test protocols and manage sample builds for external testing laboratories.\n\n * Coordinate scheduling and logistics of third-party testing activities.\n\n * Interpret test results, troubleshoot failures, and drive corrective design actions.\n\n * Maintain test documentation and ensure test outcomes are aligned with regulatory and customer requirements.\n\nDocumentation & Reporting:\n\n * Prepare and update technical documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, and technical datasheets.\n\n * Generate and present project updates, design reports, and risk assessments to stakeholders.\n\n * Develop installation guides and assist with marketing materials.\n\nContinuous Improvement & Support:\n\n * Identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance enhancement, or design optimisation.\n\n * Support existing products with design improvements, quality resolution, and change implementation.\n\n * Stay current with industry trends, new materials, and evolving CAD/engineering tools
