Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an Application Engineer to support the sales team in a technical application role. The geographical area covers Scotland West & Central, as well as Northeast England.
Knowledge of the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Automotive industries and their relevant components and materials is essential. A strong understanding of cutting tools and programming strategies is also required, although training will be provided on specific products. Experience working in an engineering environment and the ability to work independently are key. CNC programming knowledge is desirable.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance and support to customers.

Report to management on the progress of projects and sales pipeline opportunities.
*
Collaborate with the technical team to provide reports and cost-saving solutions for customers.
*
Work independently to identify and generate new opportunities.
*
Contribute to a responsive and proactive team culture.
*
Suggest product improvement ideas to customers.
Main Tasks and Deliverables
*
Collaborate with the sales team and management to identify opportunities within the assigned territory.
*
Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders in both new and existing customer accounts.
*
Work with customers to provide cutting and machining products and solutions.
*
Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities, leveraging technical expertise to exceed customer requirements.
*
Provide on-site and off-site technical support.
*
Take ownership of the territory, retaining customers, negotiating contracts, and driving profitable sales growth.
*
Deliver measurable customer benefits such as reduced machining times, extended tool life, improved productivity, and optimized efficiency.
*
Recommend appropriate solutions, such as vending and managed inventory systems.
*
Work to established KPIs and sales targets.

Skills and Experience
*
Ideally already working within the sector; however, candidates from machining or production environments with an interest in technical sales will be considered.
*
Excellent communication skills.
*
Strong technical knowledge of metal cutting and machining processes.

Resourceful, with good problem-solving ability.
*
Competent IT skills.
*
Knowledge of CADCAM software and features is advantageous
