Our client a world leader in scintillation materials for medical, industrial and security applications, based in Cambridge are you looking to appoint an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to drive the continuing growth of the company. As a Technical Sales Engineer , you’ll play a key role in driving the growth of our business by identifying opportunities, converting them into wins, and representing our brand in the marketplace.
You’ll have the chance to be part of technical discussions with customers, so we’re looking for someone with both a technical background (degree preferred) and proven sales experience .
Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing Winning New Business – Grow our order book in line with agreed budgets, identifying fresh opportunities through market analysis, networking, and competitor insights. Making an Impact – Represent us at key industry events, trade shows, and conferences, enhancing our visibility and building your sales pipeline. Showcasing Our Solutions – Organise and attend exhibitions, conferences, and demonstrations to showcase our expertise and win new clients. Customer Relationship Management Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders. Ensure customer satisfaction, resolving escalated issues quickly and effectively. Respond professionally to customer and distributor enquiries. Promote and support our products to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with technical, operational, and commercial teams to ensure customer needs are fully met. Share knowledge and insights with colleagues to strengthen our overall market approach.
Qualifications A technical degree (engineering, science, or related field) – essential for supporting client discussions. Relevant PhD in relevant technical discipline
Experience At least 3 years’ proven sales experience within security, medical, or photonics industries. Demonstrated success in Distributor Channel Management & Development. – Desirable Familiarity with export control processes. - Desirable A strong record as a team player who can also work with confidence and independence when required. Experience in relevant technical applications (e.g., X-ray imaging) would be a distinct advantage. – Desirable
Knowledge Understanding of operating within security, medical, or photonics industries - Essential Knowledge of imaging technologies and applications. - Desirable Experience contributing to or leading the development of sales and marketing plans. – Essential.
Skills & Abilities Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical specifications and documents with clarity. - Essential Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels. - Essential Strong capability in data analysis and presentation to inform decision-making and win client buy-in.- Essential Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems, with the ability to leverage digital tools to drive sales. – Essential
