Thermal Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer with a proven background in metal cladding systems to join a large client project based in Cambridge.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thermal modelling, U-value, and condensation risk assessments for metal cladding and façade systems.
Provide technical expertise on insulation, thermal bridging, and airtightness in relation to cladding.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project teams to ensure cladding systems meet thermal and regulatory standards.
Advise on materials, detailing, and system design to optimise thermal efficiency.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and compliance documentation.
Support site teams with thermal performance queries during installation stages.
Requirements
Strong experience as a Thermal Engineer within the metal cladding and façade sector.
In-depth knowledge of building physics, heat transfer, and thermal bridging in building envelopes.
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. Part L, Approved Document B, CWCT guidance).
Proficiency in thermal modelling software (e.g. THERM, Psi-Therm, or equivalent).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical details to non-specialists.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Physics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
