Overview

Tier 2 - Support Engineer Production at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). The role focuses on support of live productions for TNT Sports and Discovery/Eurosport, including sports such as football, cricket, rugby and cycling. The position is part of the Broadcast engineering team providing engineering tier 2 (old tier1) support for studios, production and post-production, collaborating with Tier 1 teams in Chiswick and Paris, and with Tier 2 and Tier 3 (COE) teams to resolve issues and improve broadcast platforms. Based in Chiswick Park, London, with shift-based patterns including weekends and occasional nights; some work at Stockley Park may be required.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of all engineering requirements alongside other engineering teams.
  • Support production markets in Stockley Park and the Nordic regions remotely and in the apparatus room.
  • Work with Production to ensure the smooth running of live events.
  • Execute ticketing through to resolution, carry out repairs and maintenance.
  • Contribute to team projects and assist the Projects team with large-scale work.
  • Update shared technical documentation and maintain effective communication.
  • Assist Management and Lead Broadcast Engineers as required.
  • Respond to stakeholders in a positive, friendly, proactive manner.
  • Follow health and safety culture with relevant maintenance and safe operating practices.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the production engineering environment and the broadcast chain.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills and ability to fault find from first principles.
  • Calm under pressure in high-stakes broadcast production environments.
  • Extensive broadcast technical background (IP video 2110, AES67, NMOS, UHD/HD, HDR/SDR, 5.1 & Dolby Atmos, Graphics, VR/AR, replay and codecs).
  • Good understanding of IT technologies (networking, virtualization, storage, cloud services, security).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to a constantly changing environment and to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communications and documentation skills; strong teamwork and customer service orientation.
  • Appreciation for project management and working knowledge of health and safety best practices.
  • Desirable: strong technical background with drive to learn and aptitude (candidates with strong background will be considered).

The above requirements are desirable but not essential. Onsite Working - this role is Onsite, meaning all working hours and days will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to applicable laws, WBD reserves the right to change this working arrangement with reasonable notice.
