About the Role

At our Portlethen facility, NOV Tuboscope specializes in the inspection, repair, and preparation of drill pipes, collars, and associated drilling tools. Our operations encompass pipe handling systems, internal and external blast units, wash bays, and other critical systems essential for efficient oilfield services. As a Trainee Maintenance Engineer, you'll be integral to maintaining these systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

As a Trainee Maintenance Engineer at our Portlethen facility, you will play a vital role in supporting the inspection, repair, and preparation of drill pipes, collars, and associated drilling tools. You will collaborate with an experienced maintenance team to perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. This hands-on role offers valuable exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, laying a strong foundation for a career in industrial maintenance within the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in routine inspections and maintenance of pipe handling equipment, blast units, wash bays, and related systems
  • Support troubleshooting and repair activities under the guidance of senior maintenance personnel
  • Participate in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies
  • Engage in training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills


Qualifications & Skills

  • A strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems; prior experience is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Basic understanding of maintenance principles and safety practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures
