Unified Communications Engineer – Microsoft Teams Voice

Remote-first (Must be able to get into London when needed with occasional EU travel). Working hours: 11am-7pm.

We’re supporting a global business expanding their Unified Communications function into Europe. They’re looking for a senior UC Engineer to take ownership of Microsoft Teams Voice and collaboration technology, acting as the key presence for the EU. This is a hands-on engineering role with strategic influence, working on major migrations, shaping UC architecture and rollout strategy, engaging with senior stakeholders, and shaping how collaboration technology works across the region. There’s also a path to step into a leadership role as the EU team grows, if successful in the role.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading on Microsoft Teams Voice migrations (retiring Cisco CUCM/Webex).
• Designing and delivering UC architecture and rollout plans across the EU.
• Managing EU telecom carriers alongside the global UC lead.
• Engineering and supporting conference room / AV technology.
• Owning tenant provisioning, dial plans, voice policies, SBC integration.
• Acting as the go-to UC specialist in Europe, building strong stakeholder relationships.
• Supporting the wider M365 environment (c.20% of your time: Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint).

What we’re looking for

• 5–10 years’ UC experience, with strong Microsoft Teams Voice skills
• Solid Microsoft 365 knowledge (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Entra)
• Proven experience in UC architecture and strategy (not just operations)
• Strong communicator – able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
• Self-driven

Nice to have

• Exposure to EU telecom carriers, SBCs, and Direct Routing/Operator Connect.
• AV/meeting room technology experience.
• PowerShell for automation.
• Microsoft or Cisco certifications.
• Be the European lead for Unified Comms in a global business
• Work on high-impact voice migrations and cloud transformation projects
• Clear pathway to team leadership in the EU
