What we are looking for:
We’re looking for a UI Engineer with professional game development experience and a strong foundation in Unreal Engine. You’ll work closely with Design, Animation, and Audio to help develop, implement, and debug UI features for our unannounced project.
This role is ideal for someone with a systems mindset who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating across disciplines, and improving the player's experience. You’ll contribute to cross-team efforts and collaborate within initiative groups, gaining experience with UI architecture and shared development practices across the project. You’ll build features using Blueprint and C++, and grow your understanding of scalable UI systems with guidance from engineers and designers.
Requirements
What we will do together:
- Build interactive, performant UI systems using Blueprints, C++, and MVVM
- Collaborate with design, art, audio, and backend teams to deliver responsive player experiences
- Contribute to modular UI systems that support scalable feature development
- Contribute to code reviews, engineering standards, and cross-discipline coordination
- Debug runtime issues in layout, animation, input, and data handling
- Help support UI performance and polish across the project
What you will bring:
- Professional experience in the game industry, ideally on a shipped or in-production title
- Working knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 or 5, including Blueprint and C++
- Solid proficiency in C++ and UI workflows, with a willingness to grow deeper expertise
- Familiarity with Unreal’s Model-View-View-Model (MVVM) framework is highly desirable
- Interest in UI systems and how they support gameplay, player feedback, and polish
- Foundational understanding of 3D math and runtime logic
- Solid communication skills and a collaborative, learning-oriented approach
- Experience with game meta-system and interfaces that involve 3D elements is a valuable skill to bring
- Experience working with cross-functional pods and collaborating across teams
- A strong interest in games and delivering polished, responsive UI experiences
Benefits
Interested… a bit about Escape Velocity:
Escape Velocity is a team of passionate, talented developers working at a studio that offers excellent benefits, on what we believe is a unique project with a committed publisher. But that doesn’t necessarily make us unique. What does make us special? We value the time, energy, and talent of our players and our colleagues. We want every hour spent developing and playing our games to be an incredibly rewarding and worthwhile use of your time.
To that end, we are ‘Fully Remote’ and support team members nearly anywhere in the world. We prioritize honesty, even when that means sharing bad news. We strive to give everyone autonomy so they can determine how best to work and play, and we care more about what you bring to the game and studio than how many hours you’re clocking. We’re dedicated to building a culture of play, which not only makes us better game makers, but also strengthens the bonds between us all. We believe in constant improvement across all areas – from the game itself to our production design – and are constantly re-evaluating how we spend our time to ensure that we’re not wasting yours and we’re all always working on the most important things.
.
A few benefits you can expect from us:
- A generous PTO allowance
- Summer and Winter holidays studio closure (separate to PTO allowance)
- Private Medical & Dental Healthcare
- Private Mental Health scheme
- A generous annual Health & Wellbeing allowance
- Discretionary Studio Bonus
- Top range tech for your home set up
- Other benefits based on your region
