VCARB F1 Team - Senior Composite Design Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Composite Design Engineer to design Formula 1 car composite parts, from concept studies to patterns, moulds, tools and jigs. The role also focuses on developing more efficient design processes and mentoring less experienced designers.

Responsibilities

  • Composite Design Act on the composite design process from conceptualization to detailed design, ensuring integration of innovative and high-performance solutions. Ensure designed parts are compliant with the F1 Technical Regulation. Develop lightweight, reliable and aerodynamically efficient composite components. Responsible for final sign-off on design release within their group (where required). Address reliability needs in collaboration with related departments. Provide availability to attend remote support from the Factory (Operations Room) during race/track events.
  • Mentorship and Innovation Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate composite design into the overall car design. Align with the Composite Design Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader on goals and deadlines. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for designers in the assigned group. Work with suppliers and external partners to source materials and components. Maintain effective communication with other departments. Stay at the forefront of composite materials, manufacturing processes and industry advancements. Adapt to project requirements with flexible attendance and attitude.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in composite design, particularly in high-performance automotive or motorsports industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes and structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Flexible and can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and deadlines.
  • Initiative and innovation mindset.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
