A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an aspiring IT professional to join a long-term programme supporting one of the UK's key national defence training establishments. This role is based at a large naval training site and would suit someone with a solid understanding of IT support who is keen to progress their career through hands-on experience and structured development.
This is a customer-facing, office-based position with excellent opportunities to grow into more senior technical or project-focused roles - the vacancy has become available due to internal promotion.
The Role: As a 2nd Line Engineer, the successful candidate will provide technical support to users and systems across a secure site, responding to service desk tickets, deploying software, resolving incidents, and contributing to ongoing project work. Full training is provided, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with a foundational understanding of Windows technologies looking to level up.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to assigned Service Desk tickets and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs Deploy images and software to workstations via SCCM Investigate and troubleshoot user and system issues Participate in project and upgrade activities Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and configuration records Ensure adherence to site security and IT policies Key Skills & Experience:
Understanding of Windows 10 and core desktop technologies Knowledge of Microsoft Server (2016/2019), Active Directory, and Group Policy Basic understanding or experience with SCCM (or similar deployment tools) Exposure to VMware or Hyper-V environments Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a team Full UK manual driving licence required Nice to Have (but not essential):
Experience with Office 365, Exchange, Teams or other Microsoft technologies Clearance Requirements:

SC clearance Due to the nature of the environment,
