Overview

Analytics Engineer at Capital on Tap. Located in our growing Data Platform team, Analytics Engineers play a central role in how data moves around the business. They are responsible for building, maintaining and optimising our modern data platform from design through to end product. You will be focused on giving seamless access to high quality, tested and documented data throughout the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support end users of our data across platforms including Snowflake, dbt, Looker and Azure DevOps.
  • Provide optimal data delivery architecture for Data Analysts and Data Scientists on ongoing projects.
  • Be self-directed and support data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.
  • Own the data infrastructure and delivery as a hands-on role requiring solid technical skills and strong communication.
  • Own the data flow through our Cloud Data Warehouse and its components.
  • Create and maintain well-designed data marts with organized and well-tested dbt models.
  • Build and own custom data pipelines using Python and the Azure platform.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: Github CI/CD, automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, etc.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including Executive, Risk, Commercial, Fincrime, Finance and Engineering teams.
  • Maintain data efficiency and consistency globally, across multiple warehouse regions.
  • Create and manage tools for analysts and data scientists to help them build and optimise our product.

We’re Looking For

  • Expert SQL skills
  • Familiarity with Python is a bonus
  • Knowledge of data modelling approaches (e.g., Kimball dimensional modelling)
  • Experience with dbt (or similar) and Git for building SQL-based pipelines
  • Experience with ELT tools and components (we currently use Fivetran)
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake)
  • Familiarity developing/building within a BI tool (Looker, Omni, Tableau)
  • Strong analytical skills; analysts will be your customer

Interview Process

First stage: 30 minute intro and values call with Talent Partner (Video call). Second stage: 45 minute CV overview with Team Manager (Video call). Final stage: 60 minute technical assessment with Head of Department (In person).
