Assistant Electrical Engineer - Lighting & Energy role at WSP. We are looking for an Assistant Electrical Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team to provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects. Responsibilities

  • Provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects.
  • Work on a diverse range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations.
  • Assist with small and large scale Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure feasibility studies, design, and technical assurance roles, from LEVI chargers to multi-vector refuelling hubs with megawatt charging systems.
  • Design renewable energy generation and energy storage systems to support decarbonisation and net-zero goals.
  • Contribute to innovative urban realm regeneration projects to create vibrant public spaces.
  • Provide highway electrical design and assurance across local authority and National Highways client bases.
  • Support the design team lead to strive for right-first-time outputs, identify and mitigate risks to ensure designs are safe and compliant with CDM regulations.
  • Take accountability for your own project work and report issues proactively to project leads.
  • Participate in project meetings and reviews, providing input related to your project responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other design teams and stakeholders across all projects, from scope understanding to later lifecycle stages such as clash detection workshops.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • A track record of high-quality low voltage electrical design, preferably within the UK transportation sector.
  • Knowledge and experience in feasibility, design, installation, maintenance, or technical assurance in the UK EV infrastructure sector and/or the wider UK transportation sector.
  • Willingness to develop and take responsibility for technical output, programme and financial performance of work packages.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey points clearly and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration with the Engineering Council and active membership with a professional institution (or working towards).
  • Hold City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulation certification (C&G 2382).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Trimble Amtech ProDesign and Modecsoft ElectricalOM is beneficial but not essential.
