Gap Technical is partnering with a leading retailer to recruit an Assistant Engineer for a modern, high-tech distribution centre. Location: Stafford. Salary: £26,897 Per Annum. Roles involve 12 hour shifts covering days, nights & weekends.

Role Overview

The Assistant Engineer will provide both proactive and reactive support for all automated systems on site. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment where your efforts directly impact operational performance, equipment availability, and site productivity.

Operational Engineering

• Respond to conveyor system jams and stoppages
• Reset emergency stop buttons as required
• Log issues and complete maintenance records using computerised systems
• Promote and maintain safe working practices, escalating H&S concerns as needed
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by reporting recurring issues and suggesting solutions
• Ensure high availability of equipment to support warehouse operations
• Conduct routine cleaning of automation equipment in line with hygiene standards

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Basic qualifications & computer literacy
• Good level of communication
• Understanding of safe systems of work
• Experience with conveyor systems
• Experience of planned preventative maintenance programmes
• Experience with MHE (Material Handling Equipment) / Automation systems and their technical components (Highly Desirable)
