Assistive Technology Engineer | St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

New Today

Overview

The Assistive Technology Service is responsible for the assessment, provision and maintenance of environmental control systems (ECS), which are installed in the homes of people with severe and complex disabilities to maximise personal independence and reduce dependence on their carer. The systems are individually prescribed and configured to suit the needs of the user, and enable that user to continue to live in their own home with significantly enhanced independence, security and quality of life.

The service is commissioned by NHS England and covers an extensive and diverse geographical area, which includes 5 London boroughs, Surrey and West Sussex.

The wide geographic area covered by the service necessitates skilled and effective communication with a large number of Social services and care agents, all with differing policies and systems. The postholder has to be flexible and sensitive to these variations when planning client interventions to ensure positive and achievable outcomes.

There is a high volume of lone working and travel in this post as the majority of time is spent with clients in their homes.

St George’s University Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Band 5 Assistive Technology Engineer to join the well established Assistive Technology team based at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton.

The successful applicant will join the team providing assessment, installation and maintenance of environmental controls throughout the commissioned area. A driver with full license is therefore essential and must have access to their own vehicle with appropriate insurance for work purposes.
