Role overview

We are seeking an Associate based in the Manchester office who can lead and contribute to Liveable Places projects, work with clients to meet sustainable transport needs, manage projects and budgets, and support the growth of our client portfolio while developing our teams.

What you will do

  • Support our Regional lead for the North, along with the wider Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership and business development
  • Work directly with clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
  • Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects while helping to grow and develop our work with clients
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
  • Oversee projects budget and financial performance
  • Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
  • Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve aims and objectives

Your team

Liveable Places works with local authorities and private clients across the UK to deliver schemes from concept to delivery, including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian/traffic modelling. The team includes over 200 staff with offices nationwide and continued growth planned. This is an excellent opportunity to develop in your career through exposure to a wide variety of experiences. The role provides a pivotal opportunity to help support and steer the growth of Liveable Places.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
  • Knowledge of current transport policy and standards
  • Proven ability to support with winning public sector work and grow our offer in Greater Manchester and Liverpool City Region
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Transport, road safety, parking and traffic engineering experience
  • Good spoken and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with public sector officials, the public and senior colleagues
