A Little More About Your Role

We are seeking an Associate to be based out of our Manchester office who can:

  • Support our Regional lead for the North, along with the wider Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership & business development
  • Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
  • Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
  • Oversee projects budget and financial performance
  • Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
  • Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives

Your Team

Liveable Places works with a wide range of local authority and private clients across the UK to help them achieve their placemaking ambitions. We deliver schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian/traffic modelling.

We have had recent key successes with TfGM, council partners, and national authorities. The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff and plans for continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity to develop in your career through exposure to a wide variety of experiences and to play a pivotal role in the team’s growth going forward.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
  • Knowledge of current transport policy and standards
  • A proven ability to support winning public sector work and grow our offer in Greater Manchester and Liverpool City Region
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Transport, road safety, parking and traffic engineering experience
  • Good spoken and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with public sector officials, members of the public and senior colleagues
