Participation required in weekend working, call-out rota, and out-of-hours work as needed.SummaryYou will be working for one of the UK's finest and largest 18th-century buildings, internationally significant to architectural heritage. It serves as a major arts and cultural centre in central London, featuring seasonal attractions such as dancing fountains in summer and an ice rink in winter. The venue also hosts contemporary art and design exhibitions, free displays, family workshops, and guided tours.The Carpenter / Fabric Technician plays a key role in both planned and reactive maintenance of this Grade I listed historic building. Responsibilities include carpentry, decorative work, and general building fabric repairs. The role also supports services for resident offices, exhibitions, and events.ResponsibilitiesCompletion of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for all fabric elements of the buildingExecution of reactive maintenance tasks as required or directedUndertaking ad-hoc fabric works, including preparing quotesCompletion of quoted works, including outside normal working hoursOccasional report writingCompliance with Health, Safety & Environmental proceduresRepresent Somerset House professionally, upholding its core valuesSkills and ExperienceEssential:Time-served carpenterExperience working in heritage environmentsCity & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in CarpentryGeneral building experienceWillingness to work outside normal business hoursStrong communication skills; client-facingDesirable:Multi-skilled with experience in other trades and practicesPersonal ProfileSelf-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a teamAble to manage workloads and meet deadlinesFlexible and positive “can-do” attitude #J-18808-Ljbffr
