About the role

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will manage our Cloud infrastructure and DevOps activities. Responsibilities include developing software, configuring systems, and performing diagnostic tests throughout the stages of development and management of infrastructure.

To ensure success as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you should demonstrate extensive experience in DevOps and cloud engineering.

Key Accountabilities

  • Cloud creation, maintenance, and patching (Using Terraform and CDK).
  • Provide technical expertise to improve, update, and secure ZAVA’s cloud infrastructure using IaC (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Be a subject matter expert and apply the latest DevOps and IaC practices.
  • Support engineering teams by deploying requested tools and assisting with DevOps issues.
  • Automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Review and approve Pull requests (PRs) / code written by team members to ensure code quality and correct implementation.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials compliance by ensuring systems are secure and guidelines are followed.
  • Identify technical problems and develop software updates and fixes.
  • Participate in team agile ceremonies (standups, planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, etc.).
  • Create clear documentation of infrastructure solutions and architecture.
  • Measure and optimise system performance by monitoring metrics.
  • Contribute to delivering the Cloud Infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
  • Optimise logging, auditing, and monitoring of the cloud infrastructure.
  • Drive incidents and minimise impact on business objectives.

Technical skills & experience

  • Passion for DevOps practices and culture.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS, Serverless, EC2, Cloud Networking, and ECS.
  • Proficiency in IaC technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Ability to ensure smooth software deployment by writing script updates and running diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Experience with logging, auditing, and monitoring for infrastructure.
  • Jenkins CI/CD.
  • Continuous learning mindset and ability to stay current with software development trends.
  • Curiosity and drive to solve and troubleshoot complex problems.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare).
  • Process orchestration (e.g., Temporal).
  • Security awareness.
