We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at Rowden Technologies. As a pivotal part of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our infrastructure and deployments to support our innovative modular information systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

While this role offers hybrid working options, it requires a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at our Bristol HQ with occasional travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation, and management of cloud-based infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and Python
  • Monitoring and ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of applications
  • Implementing security best practices and maintaining compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborating with development teams to integrate DevOps methodologies into the development lifecycle
  • Providing technical guidance and support in the adoption of DevOps practices

Key skills, experience and behaviours

  • Proficient experience in AWS or Azure services and architecture
  • Experience in using Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) management
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools
  • Understanding of Docker and containerization technologies
  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

In addition, any/or all of following are considered highly desirable:

  • AWS Landing Zone experience
  • Experience implementing IDAM and associated security controls
  • AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) experience
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with additional cloud services and technologies

About you

  • Planning complex architectures at both a broad and detailed level
  • Explaining those plans to business stakeholders of varying technical levels
  • Taking complete ownership of architecture designs in a highly secure environment
  • Providing clear documentation and architecture diagrams, plus surrounding governance documents
  • Presenting and knowledge sharing skills, using whiteboards and other tools, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organisations
