Our Story
We're Zopa. We started our journey in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. In 2020 we launched Zopa Bank, a bank that listens to what customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance, with a people-first vision for a new era of banking that empowers everyone to aim high every day.

The team

Our Cloud Infrastructure team ensures the foundations for product, customer experience and transactions at Zopa Bank are secure, resilient, and ready to scale. We collaborate across the business to deliver scalable solutions, automate where possible, and maintain the reliability our customers expect. The team is focused on continuous improvement as we grow with new products and more customers.

The team currently comprises 4 people: 1 Associate, 2 Mid-Levels, and 1 Senior Platform Engineer.

A day in the life

As Platform Engineer at Zopa, you’ll split your time across three areas that keep the platform healthy and moving forward:

• AWS: manage the AWS accounts where most of Zopa’s applications are deployed; responsible for infrastructure management and cost.
• Kubernetes: most applications are deployed into Kubernetes; maintenance of multiple clusters and surrounding services is required to offer features to engineers.
• HashiCorp Vault: tool used to manage secrets and certificate generation.

Collaboration is at the core of our culture. We support each other, own our services, and have weekly brainstorming sessions to discuss challenges (technical and non-technical). It’s a fast-paced, learning-rich environment that balances technical depth with a human-centered approach to software delivery.

About you

• Proven depth in CI/CD, deployment and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Solid AWS experience and proficiency in at least one programming language (we use Go)
• Comfortable designing, operating and troubleshooting production platforms at scale
• Strong command of observability tooling (Prometheus, Splunk or similar); eager to master Honeycomb
• Developer empathy and outstanding communication skills; thrive on coaching and cross-team collaboration
• Data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement mindset
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and incident-management best practices
• Growth mindset; curious about GenAI and its impact on developer productivity

Nice to have experience

• Experience building mobile or serverless (Lambda) CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to regulated or high-compliance domains; fintech being a bonus
• Advanced Honeycomb or observability-as-code know-how

We\'re on the move

Towards the end of 2025 Zopa will relocate to a brand-new headquarters at 20 Water Street in Canary Wharf, a 44,000 square foot workspace to support our 900 employees during our growth.

Working arrangements

At Zopa we value flexible ways of working. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week. You’ll also have the option to work from abroad for up to 120 days a year, subject to the right to work in the country of choice. We’ll provide all you need to thrive from day one.
