Overview About this Position: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Composite Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy on an initial 6-month contract (Outside IR35). This role offers the chance to work on high-performance, lightweight structures within a fast-paced and technically demanding environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and development of advanced composite components, supporting projects across a range of industries. Responsibilities
Design and development of composite components and assemblies using Siemens NX Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and build processes Collaborate with cross-functional teams including stress, manufacturing, and vehicle integration engineers Apply best practices in composite design, including material selection, layup definition, and joining methods Support design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies Ensure all work complies with relevant technical standards and project requirements
Experience Required
Proven experience in composite design engineering within automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or a similar high-performance sector Strong proficiency with Siemens NX CAD software, including surfacing and assemblies Good understanding of composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacture principles Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team environment Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical, aerospace, or automotive engineering
