Senior Configuration Engineer – Stevenage – Hybrid Working
6–12 Month Plus Contract

Working with a globally known manufacturing company within the Defence industry. They are actively seeking a Configuration Engineer on a 6–12 month plus contract in the Stevenage area. This is a good opportunity for someone in the Automotive industry who is looking to work within the Defence Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Product definition and/or Configuration Management of a minor project or major parts of a project.
  • Reflect engineering input into the design definition/structure, utilising the company PLM tool Windchill.
  • Manage, on behalf of the project, the correct design definitions for potentially multiple product variants.
  • Successfully implement engineering changes against the appropriate instances.
  • Provision of draft Configuration Management document updates to the project Configuration Manager ahead of the appropriate review period.
  • Comprehensive and timely preparation for Configuration Meetings.
  • Provision of data to Configuration Manager and project team against agreed timescales ahead of associated meetings.
  • Ensure control of project design definitions are adhered to across the development, production and in-service phases to provide comprehensive status accounting information to the customer.
  • Focal point of contact for day-to-day activities with the project and engineering team.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High level of knowledge regarding principles of Configuration Management and their application within a demanding engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, electronic – across all levels.
  • Ability to build rapport with stakeholders and positively promote the Configuration Management group through a supportive and proactive approach with internal customers.
  • Awareness of relevant internal and external customer requirements and standards.
  • Experience with Windchill or other PLM tools.
  • Familiarity with applying engineering input to design definitions and configuration control processes.
