Overview Job Description Job Description Controls Systems Design Engineer. Full time, Bristol/Hybrid, or Derby/Hybrid, or Solihull/Hybrid (3 days per week on site). This position is being advertised to form a pipeline of candidates for current and future positions within Civil Aerospace; applicants should not expect feedback immediately. What you will be doing: The Controls Systems Engineer shall specify, design and validate complex sub-systems, including high-level requirements for the software and/or hardware system components. This includes creation of mathematical models and simulations of control and actuation systems. The Controls Systems Engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of the controls sub-system and the artefacts associated with the design, verification and validation of the system. This shall be achieved through decomposition of designs and development of tests, analysis to ensure that the system implementation satisfies the validated requirements. Why Rolls-Royce? Interpret stakeholder needs to develop and agree control system requirements. Develop high level requirements into a validated and verifiable control and instrumentation system design. Test and analyse control systems to support development and certification activities of safety critical systems. Analyse events and data to support failure investigation and rectification. Support the wider organisation through continuous improvement and strategic planning.
Qualifications / What we are looking for
Highly self-motivated and directed, with strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail. Professional courage to highlight areas of concern and risk, ensuring suitability of a product to meet its requirements in a safe and functionally appropriate way. Demonstrated ability to manage tasks to completion within a team-oriented, collaborative environment or as a sole contributor on identified projects. Good time management skills, able to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Dynamically respond to evolving objectives and opportunities. Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, able to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly terms. Keen to develop capability through appropriate training courses and workshops.
