We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Role Summary The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in AWS Cloud regions. Our technicians operate and maintain AWS DCs\' world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the role will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures. The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process-oriented approach, with the ability to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities. Responsibilities
Safety - Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture. Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance - Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPSs, switchgear, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches (ATSs), diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and transformers Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required Ability to work shifts (morning, late, and night) On-call rotation to respond to off-duty emergency calls
Qualifications
City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Knowledge of mechanical systems (mechanical, HVAC, controls) or knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of data center engineering operations experience Bachelors degree in electrical, mechanical, or equivalent engineering
