This is a Full-Time Contract initially for 6 months – but likely to become permanent.

Overview

Base pay range: Our Client is a City based bank – looking to recruit a Database Engineer with at least 3 to 5 years expertise of developing and supporting SQL and C#. This role involves software development, database support, and integration across multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Software Development: Analysis of issues pertaining to problems or errors raised by in-house systems, i.e. CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end of day cycle. Understand business requirements to develop and deliver appropriate solutions based on system definition documents. Proficiency in advanced 4GL programming languages and application of full development life cycle.
• Database Support: Supporting budgeting and financial planning processes for Finance, including loading and refreshing of data based on requirements. Amend and change hierarchical structures within the environment. Debug and analyse errors and anomalies within Hyperion, liaising with Finance to ensure smooth operation. Build data flows within the SQL environment in SSIS packages. Introduce new fields and data types for new information in the CORE environment. Integrate with sub-systems using data abstraction and connectivity layers (ODBC, ADO.net). Build reports using Hyperion Interactive Reports. Ensure the environment is running optimally and perform housekeeping as needed.
• SharePoint Integration: Integrate SharePoint environment and Forms with Equation system to automate processes and reduce duplicate entry. Utilize web services to integrate modern tech with legacy systems such as Equation.
• End Of Day Cycle: Provide second and third level support for in-house programs during the end-of-day cycle. Analyse and rectify problems independently and as a team. Take ownership and deliver timely solutions. Provide out-of-hours support as required.
• Risk & Regulatory Duties: Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and Bank policies. Report policy/procedure breaches and potential non-compliance promptly. Execute controls to minimise risk of breaches. Identify risk and control gaps and escalate as needed.
• Training & Competence: Complete annual mandatory regulatory refresher training and pursue recommended technical and behavioural competencies.
• Business Continuity: Fulfil prescribed business continuity requirements as directed by Line Manager or Head of Department.

Qualifications/Experience

• Degree level qualified or equivalent.
• SQL Programming.
• C# Software development.
• Knowledge and Skills: C# programming to high level, software analysis and design, SQL query language, dimensional modelling, data warehouse concepts (Inmon or Kimball).
