Design Engineer

The requirement will be to support the senior future programmes design engineer for development and resilience programmes with the preparation of models and drawings for various pieces of customised equipment.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to): (suggested 5-10 bullets/statements, indicative of the role at this level)
Production of engineering drawings and bills of materials in support of site engineering programmes.
Correct application of BS 8888 and ISO9001. In accordance with internal sign off procedures.
Correct application of materials and tolerances for the purposes of form fit and function.
Liaising with Product, Process and Manufacturing engineers to support their process and equipment requirements.

Knowledge: (Recommended max 5 bullets/statements)
• Knowledge and complete understanding of BS 8888 and ISO9001.
• A broad knowledge of engineering materials and material properties, manufacturing process and application.
• Understanding and appreciation for suitable GD and T tolerances.
• Knowledge of stock components, fasteners, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum and/or food industry pipework, valves, fittings etc.
Skills: (Recommended max 5 /statements)
• Proficient user of Siemens NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM software.
• Selection and application of one off and batch production processes, for customised equipment.
• Understanding of practical application of design for assembly process’s.
Essential experience to include:
Previous Drawing Office experience is essential.
•A “hands on” or appreciation for one off and batch production manufacturing processes.
•Application of basic machining and fabrication techniques.
•Drawing Experience of precision equipment gauges, fixtures for production processes, hand tools, press tooling, assembly jigs etc.
•Drawing experience of fabricated components and assemblies e.g. weld assemblies, sheet metal work etc.
Desirable experience to include:
Knowledge and/or experience of circuit diagrams, pneumatic, hydraulic or electro mechanical
A good working knowledge of the specific standards relating to process safety, with particular focus on ATEX, PUWER, LOLER and Pressure Systems and/or CE Marking.
Fume extraction systems used in an explosive dust/gas environment.
Lifting equipment e.g. spreader bars, frames, hoists and beams.
Ability to carry out a wide range of mechanical stress calculations.
Industrial mixing vessel pipework to include valves, fittings etc
