We are seeking DevSecOps Engineers at a range of levels to join our Systems Engineering team, to design, implement and deliver new systems within the Defence Intelligence domain and wider.As a multi-disciplined Engineer, you will form part of the DevOps team, developing and delivering a range of capabilities in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The role will involve working across the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept and requirements analysis through design, build, test, acceptance and delivery into live operations.Your responsibilitiesWorking as a cross functional engineer within an Agile teamDesigning, coding, integrating, testing and deploying software as part of a teamEngaging with clients, or their representatives, to understand requirementsFormally demonstrating software to clients or their representativesAssisting in the design and development of scalable, secure and high-performance software solutions in line with quality standardsProducing and executing software testingIdentifying and fixing bugs in software and deploymentsMaking use of COTS and Open-Source products to assist OperationsDocumenting work and upskilling junior team membersHelping to identify lessons learned and best practicesContinuing to engage with new technologies to create new possibilities for the DevOps teamExperience you’ll needA solid grounding in the Systems Engineering lifecycle, preferably with experience on large complex secure systemsKnowledge and understanding of foundational ITIL functions, principles and processesA proven track record in the implementation and maintenance of complex IT systemsRecent practical experience of successfully integrating complex COTS productsExpertise in the integration and configuration of COTS software to meet defined system requirements. e.g. Sophos, LogRhythm, Lumension Device Control, What’s Up, MS Office, ESRI ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, BAE SOCET SET, Photoshop, Oracle, SQL Server, SplunkExpertise and experience developing software (Python, C#, Go etc)Knowledge and experience of wireframing UI/UX designs (e.g. through Balsamic)Experience of software release audits (as auditor or developer)Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects to define security requirementsWindows system administration experience, covering Windows 10 and Server 2012, 2016, 2019Linux administration and user experienceExpertise or interest in designing and deploying cloud-based infrastructure (Azure, AWS etc)Solid scripting capabilities using PowerShell, VB, or BashKnowledge of cybersecurity best practicesExperience implementing hardware integration projectsSkills covering problem analysis and resolution in a secure environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsUK resident and right to work with (or ability to attain) SC vetting status (or higher)Experience utilising agile delivery methodologies and processesA good understanding of the Development LifecycleExperience configuring COTS software or using Open-Source software to meet a requirementWillingness to travel to client sites (travel away from office is expensed)Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in software or systems engineering; or a relevant alternativeCloud Accreditation in Administration or DevOps areasChartered IT Professional or equivalentWhat you’ll get in returnCompetitive salary and annual bonus schemeGenerous pension and life assurance25 days annual leave plus your birthday off and options to buy and sell holiday10 days additional leave for military reservistsUp to 2 days of paid volunteering a yearIndividual Doctor@Hand healthcare coverGenuine flexible workingWork from home, our Bristol offices, or client sitesThe latest secure techInvestment in personal developmentVibrant social sceneWhy Apache iX?Our growing team brings a wealth of experience from across the defence and security sector, and we pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality services to our clients.We do this by creating a culture and environment where the best people want to work.
