OverviewLeonardo is seeking Digital Engineers at various levels to join our hardware engineering teams across the UK. Based in any of our eight offices, you will contribute to the development, manufacture and testing of cutting-edge radio frequency (RF) systems within a range of product lines, with a focus on defence technology.What You’ll DoDesign high speed digital PCBs that utilise the latest FPGA, microprocessor and high-speed interconnect technologiesSupport the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis through design, unit testing, integration with the target system, and acceptance testingFully document and record work products, keep them under configuration management, and provide plans and progress reportsCollaborate with Systems, Mechanical and Software Engineers to develop sub-system digital electronic architectures that extend product range, capability and performance with minimal Size, Weight and Power (SWaP)Develop new electronics through the full design lifecycle from concepting and technology maturation to prototyping, main product design, build, test and system integration, and delivery to the customerAnalyse system-level requirements documents and apply them to hardware designsVisualise the wider system context alongside detailed digital architectures and solve complex technical challengesDevelop digital electronics including digital/DSP, firmware, and mixed-signal workQualificationsQualifications first or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science (e.g. Physics)Experience with analysing system level requirements documents and applying them to hardware designsExperience in developing novel digital electronics, including digital/DSP, firmware, and mixed-signalSecurity ClearanceThis role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
